Assistant Manager, Retail Operations
Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing security and safety operations in common areas, including managing security services, supervising CCTV and access control, ensuring effective patrols, handling incidents and emergencies, leading safety training and evacuation drills, managing traffic and crowd control, and ensuring compliance with permits, insurance, SOPs, and building regulations.
Job Description
- Oversee security and safety operations in common areas
- Manage security services, CCTV monitoring, and access control systems
- Supervise patrols in common, critical, and tenant areas
- Handle incidents, emergencies, and provide immediate response
- Lead safety checks, training, and fire evacuation drills
- Manage traffic flow and crowd control during peak hours and events
- Coordinate lost & found and provide emergency assistance
- Ensure safety compliance, reporting, and adherence to regulations
- Control work permits (e.g. hot work) and contractor/tenant access (ID management)
- Oversee loading area operations and safety measures
- Manage accident insurance-related matters
- Enforce rules, regulations, and SOPs while driving continuous improvement
Key Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in any field (Security Management, Safety, or related field preferred)
- At least 3–5 years of experience in security operations, safety, or facility management, preferably in retail, shopping mall, or large-scale building environments
- Strong knowledge of security systems including CCTV, access control, and patrol management systems
- Solid understanding of safety standards, emergency response, fire safety, and evacuation planning, with ability to lead drills and training
- Proven experience in managing incidents, emergencies, and crowd or traffic control with sound decision-making
- Hands-on experience in managing work permit systems (e.g. hot work permit, contractor control) and ensuring compliance
- Knowledge of insurance requirements (accident) and regulatory compliance
- Strong understanding of SOPs, rules, and regulations, with ability to enforce and improve operational standards
- Good leadership, coordination, and communication skills, able to manage teams and work closely with tenants and contractors
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and provide on-site operational support when required
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and high sense of responsibility
