Assistant Director, Finance (Frasers Hospitality)
Job Summary
Assistant Director, Finance is responsible for leading the finance and accounting function across a portfolio of hospitality-related entities operating across multiple jurisdictions. The role provides strategic oversight of financial reporting, controls, governance, and business partnership to support asset performance, operational decision-making, and long-term value creation. You will lead and develop the finance team, drive functional excellence, and serve as a key advisor to senior management on financial and operational matters.
Job Description
Financial & Management Reporting
- Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including consolidated accounts, in accordance with IFRS and applicable local GAAP.
- Ensure delivery of accurate and insightful management reports, variance analysis, and performance dashboards covering property, hospitality, and investment-related metrics.
- Review consolidated cash flow statements, balance sheet schedules, and supporting analyses.
- Establish and maintain disciplined, consistent, and efficient closing processes across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Asset Performance
- Direct annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes at both entity and group levels, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Oversee financial analysis on operating and asset-level performance, including actual vs budget/forecast, key cost drivers, and return metrics.
- Provide financial leadership in planning and strategy for property, hospitality, and investment portfolios, including scenario analysis and sensitivity modelling.
Cash Management
- Oversee cash flow planning and monitoring to support operational and investment requirements across the portfolio.
- Engage with key internal and external stakeholders, including banks and financing partners, on financing administration, covenants, and ongoing financial monitoring.
Tax, Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Provide oversight of corporate income tax, GST/VAT, and withholding tax matters across relevant jurisdictions.
- Manage relationships with tax advisors and overseas tax agents to ensure timely, accurate, and optimised tax filings.
- Ensure robust statutory reporting and compliance for local and overseas entities, including monitoring of regulatory developments.
Audit & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the senior point of contact for external auditors and ensure smooth execution of statutory and group audits.
- Review on on audit deliverables, statutory financial statements, and supporting schedules.
- Manage relationships with joint venture partners, property owners, hotel operators, outsourced accounting firms, and overseas finance teams on financial and operational matters.
Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
- Act as senior business owner for finance and accounting systems, ensuring strong governance, internal controls, and data integrity.
- Champion process improvements, standardisation, and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency while strengthening controls.
Business Support & Transactions
- Provide financial leadership on acquisition, divestment, and value-enhancement initiatives, including evaluation of accounting, tax, structuring, and operational implications.
- Partner with business and operations teams as a trusted advisor on financial aspects of property and hospitality operations.
- Lead or contribute to strategic projects such as system enhancements, portfolio restructurings, and finance transformation initiatives.
Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, setting clear priorities, performance standards, and development plans.
- Allocate resources effectively across reporting, planning, compliance, and business support workstreams.
- Act as a key finance representative in senior management discussions and cross-functional forums.
Key Qualification
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; professional qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent) required.
- Minimum 12–15 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, including prior people management and team leadership experience.
- Prior experience in real estate, hospitality, funds, REITs, or asset-based businesses is highly preferred.
- Deep technical expertise in IFRS, consolidation, statutory reporting, and tax compliance.
- Proven track record managing multi-entity and cross-border financial operations.
- Strong experience working with auditors, tax advisors, financing partners, and overseas finance teams.
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen, while remaining hands-on when required in a dynamic, asset-heavy environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills at senior and board levels.
